SYLLABUS & SCHEDULE
3 General Sessions and 3 Small Sessions will be conducted. General sessions will involve all students and will be conducted by all workshop leaders collaboratively. Mini sessions will give students an opportunity to work with workshop leaders one-on-one and get individual feedback about their work.
GENERAL SESSION 1, June 28/Monday:

Introductions: What do we mean by “creative science writing”?

Discussion of personal and workshop goals.

Analyzing some examples of creative science writing both by students and by professionals.
GENERAL SESSION 2, June 30/Wednesday:
8.30 - 10.00 am (New York time)

Popular story-telling formats and platforms and how to use them to convey scientific information.

Finding an original topic & defining a target audience.

Intercultural ideas exchange activity (students can use this section to share information about their own culture if they would like to)
MINI SESSIONS: Students will attend the mini sessions individually or in small groups. In the mini sessions students will discuss their work with the workshop leader and get feedback in terms of their progress.

MINI SESSION 1, July 3/ Saturday:
(Teacher and student will determine the meeting time together)

Students will come to this session ready to discuss their selected topic and resources, audience and project with the workshop teacher. They will leave this session with an action plan for next steps to complete their project.
MINI SESSION 2, July 10/ Saturday:
(Teacher and student will determine the meeting time together)

Students should send the first draft of their work to their workshop teacher by July 9th, Friday night.
MINI SESSION 3, July 17/ Saturday:
(Teachers and students will determine the meeting time together)

Students will be matched cross-culturally to share their work with each other and get peer feedback.

Students should send their second draft to their teachers and small workshop group by July 16th, Friday.
GENERAL SESSION 3, July 24/Saturday:

Reflections and conclusions.

Showcasing your final products. :)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Workshop General Sessions will be conducted in English, but students are encouraged to produce at least some parts of their work in their native languages- such as a synopsis, subtitles for a video, or key words.
